A Life of Adventure.

"We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if we only keep our eyes open."

Adventure.
That word is so exciting.
I love to think about all the unique places that are full of interesting people that I have never met. My mind takes flight when I think about all the things I have yet to learn and all the opportunities that I have before me.
BUT yet, I am still here. I am right where I have always been, the town where I was born, in the house I have lived in my entire life.
Does this mean I am lacking in adventures?
NO.
I have adventures all the time. If only I will only open my eyes.
I was reminded of this while exploring some beautiful  gardens in my area with my friend Zhiyi on a warm sunny summer afternoon. This beautiful girl has a special knack for speaking truth into my life in the littlest ways. Her grace filled words urged me to remember that no matter where I am, whether  in my home town or across the world in China, I am on an adventure. There are lots of unexplored places, new people and ways in which I can learn right where I am at.
This is so true in light of our relationship. We have been friends for almost a year and I can't even begin to tell you everything she has taught me. We often talk about her culture and what it is like to be a Christ follower in her country.
Every afternoon spent with this special gal is like an adventure across the globe while sipping coffee in the middle of farm country. Who says you need to travel to learn about other countries?? I just proved them wrong. ;)

Adventure is not a specific place confined to certain people doing an ideal activity, it is a lifestyle.
It is the ability to stare into the face of life with eyes wide with curiosity, recognizing beauty, appreciating uniqueness, savoring moments and learning always. This can be done anywhere, at anytime. It is a choice to experience life for what it is, one big adventure.

I am so thankful for a friend like Zhiyi.
