Sweet Simple Moments

"But the summer had been a very happy one, too-- a time of glad living with summer suns and skies, a time of keen delight in wholesome things; a time of renewing and deepening of old friendships a time in which she had learned to live more nobly, to work more patiently, to play more heartily" L.M. Montgomery Anne of Avonlea
I am learning to enjoy the sweet simple moments this summer.
Although my heart often aches for new adventure, new places and new friends, there is something to be said about the quiet simplicity of home.

There are moments that are so sweet that I wish I could bottle the time up and save it for days when life seems hard to bear.

Reading a beautiful book with the window open.

Talking over afternoon coffee.

Planting seeds in the soft earth and anticipating the rewards.

Riding in the car with windows open and music playing softly on a sunny afternoon.

Giving one extra hug.

Eating warm granola on a rainy day.

Dreaming of summer adventures.

Savoring the laughter of friends.

Holding a new born baby.

Listening to the silly stories of children.

It is so good for my soul to learn how to find value in these moments. To rest. They are so simple, but so important. I will never look back on my life and wish I had rushed more, but I will look back and wish I had slowed down and purposefully remembered the sweet simple moments.
