Summit Ministries 2013

I'm sitting here forcing myself to start the process of writing down what I have experienced in the last few weeks. There are two reasons why I have intentionally procrastinated writing about this journey...

1.) I'm still processing so much.
2.) The memories that I made are rich in beauty and I am afraid that if I attempt to write about them, I won't be able to do them justice.

but alas, the time has come. :)

A brief overview:

For those of you who don't know, I attended Summit Ministries Worldview Leadership Conference in the hippy mountainside town of Manitou Springs, Colorado. It's a two week leadership conference on worldview and apologetics geared toward late high school and early college young adults. The main focus of this conference is to help students think about what they believe and why they believe it. Teaching from a biblical worldview, they then dive into how to the engage culture in battle of ideas. Students are taught to believe truth, love truth and share truth.
56 lectures, 70 hours, and two weeks later you've had the Summit experience, complete with mountain hikes, great friendships, amazing custard, fun sports time, exhaustion, stronger leg muscles, lungs adept to higher altitude, a happy heart, a full head and an experience of a lifetime. More importantly you are sent out with a vision to engage culture through your personal gifts and talents.
In other words...
IT'S AWESOME.
What an amazing opportunity to glean wisdom from some of leading the Christian apologists in America. Not only do you sit in class and listen to them, but you also eat meals, do activities and live in the same building with these smart smart smart smart people. Which means..you get to know them, you build a relationship and you get to ask questions (yay!!!!!!!!).

What I learned:

So much.
So much.
So So So So So So much.
I learned a lot.
I'm still trying to grasp everything that I was taught.
Going to Summit is kind of like drinking from a fire hydrant for two straight weeks.
I'll be blogging more specifics in the coming days.

This quote sums up my time:

"Once you live a good story you can't go back to meaningless scenes stitches together by the  thread of wasted time"

Translation..
I will be forever changed by what I learned at Summit. I can't deny truth and I must share it, no matter what the cost.
